I want to thank eveyone for their honest and heart felt thoughts. and for not picking on the typos.. i know that religion can be a very divisive subject.. and i appreciate everyone being kind and honest in their responses. I am just wondering why people (some people) feel this need to know why there are here? or to think there must be a reason we are here. I guess i am an atheist for a variety of reasons.. the easiest one is that i feel no desire to know why we ( the general we as in the human race) are here. or what our purpose might be.. i am here because my parents had sex about 37 years ago.. my main goal in life is to be the best son, father, husband friend i can be to those i love. and luckily i dont need some phony belief or faith in some outdated philosophy to help me achieve that. I find it ironic that some of the most judgemnetal people i have met are the most religous. they are the least forgiving of opposing view points. If you want to believe for your own benifit i think this is great. but what really irks me about religoius people in GENERAL is the need to save others or share their faith so we the non believers can be better people. I am a good person without any belief thank you very much. and when people find out i am an atheist, the true friends or family or whoever dont judge, they accept me as the good person they know me to be. The others immediately suggest some books to read ( read my other blog for my suggestion on great mystery books that i enjoy) ahamelss plug... or people to talk to so i can learn the truth and be a better person.. i find this laughable.. your belief is your beief.. as my favorite singer Trace Adkins says (allthough not about religion) I wont judge you if you do ,, so dont you judge me if i dont.....

it seems to me.. there is a direct corrallation between initelligence and believing in religion. I am curious if anyone else notices that? the less intelligent you are,, the more likely you are to be a follower of some sort of organized religion. I am not saying stupid.. so no comments on that.. i am saying that the more intelligent you are the more likely you think for yourself and therefore are less likely to follow any out dated nonsense. comments?

SO are tehre any of you out there who truely believe in heaven and then more importantly that the only way into heaven is through accepting jesus christ?? i have a question for any of you who can defend this position ..please leave a comment and i will reply..thanks

Please let me know just your age and if you are the same religous beliefs that your parents are. or that of the household you were brought up in. not concerned with what the religion is..just about wether or not you are of the same beliefs that you grew up surrounded by.. thanks
